Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water

Hello!

The primer water was in a Sephora Favorites Superstars kit. You can look through that set here. The 1.0 oz retails for $16, and 3.9 oz for $32. Smashbox claims this can hydrate and revitalize the skin.

The only other primer water I've used is MAC's Fix Plus. I really enjoy that one. It's cheaper than this one. I sprayed the Smashbox primer water after moisturizing and before my foundation. I highly dislike the fragrance smell I got when I sprayed this on. The product doesn't contain silicone, alcohol, or oil. I like that it's free of all these ingredients.

Honestly, I think my MAC Fix Plus is more hydrating than this. This primer water was more mattifying if anything. I noticed it really absorbed my oil, and I'm such an oily person when I wear my foundation for just awhile. It did make my makeup appear more fresh. I'd say my makeup did last longer with this. I noticed my blush and bronzer were staying on longer, when I used this. Those were still going strong by 5 pm when I had applied makeup at 11 am.

It's packed with revitalizing electrolytes..which would be nice inside my body. Not on my face. Smashbox really made some big claims with this primer water.

I liked this primer water, but can't get over the the scent and price. My makeup did last longer and the primer water was refreshing on the skin. The product claims are a little too much as well.

I just noticed Smashbox released a primer oil. Has anyone tried this or the oil?

  1. I've wanted to try this out, because I've never tried anything like it! I think the scent would bother me too. And the price lol!! I haven't heard anything about the primer oil yet, that kind of sounds strange to me!

    1. Yes, this is way over priced. I'd suggest picking up the small bottle if you wanted to try it. Yes, not sure how the oil would work out as a primer.

  3. Honestly, I just use rose water to mist my face. I buy it for $2 from the Indian grocery store. I don't really have much faith in primer water. It feels a little like a marketing scheme to me. I know I'm a Grinch lol. :P

  5. Hmm, I really like this stuff and I honestly don't notice a scent and I'm pretty sensitive to scents.

  6. I don't like scented products but I've also never heard of this! Mac's Fix+ does the job for me though too x
