Play! by Sephora September 2016

Hello!

I always seem to be late getting this subscription box up. The theme for this month's box was "The Unbasic Basics." Every month Play! by Sephora sends you five deluxe samples and a fragrance as a bonus. The subscription is $10 with tax and you can sign up here.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel

This stuff is amazing! I've mentioned it before here. This makes my brow hairs stay in place all day. It really defines my brows. It's lightweight and I'm not left with any crusty brow hairs. I hate when that happens.

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

This is a lightweight moisturizer. It can also be used as a primer! I didn't find it to be too moisturizing, so I prefer to use it during the day. This added some brightness to my skin. I had been hoping for the Dr. Jart moisturizer that other people had received.

Atelier Cologne Sud Magnolia

This will not be going on my fragrance wish list! (This subscription has lengthened that list lol.)  I love floral scents, but this was perhaps too strong for me. It is described as having delicate notes of magnolia with layers of wood and citrus. I wanted to like it, but just couldn't. It did have a long lasting scent though!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

I was really excited to find this in my box. A lot of people love this eyeliner. It is easy to maneuver, which may be because of the felt tip. I received the shade "Trooper", which is described as a satin black. Personally, this was just not a deep enough black for me. I thought it was a navy blue at first, which would have been a nice color to receive. It did last about 6-7 hours.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Night Cap Overnight Perfector

I'm not into hair products too much, but surprisingly I have discovered another hair product I enjoy. You can apply this to damp or dry hair before bed. You then wash it out in the morning. It didn't stain my pillowcase and it left my hair feeling soft! My hair had a healthy look to it and some much needed shine!

Sephora Collection Rouge Shine Lipstick

This was something I passed onto my sister. This isn't a color I tend to gravitate towards. This shade is called "Love Spell." The sample was extremely small! I notice the lip products are always so tiny in this subscription box.

  1. I love that brow gel too! I've heard great things about the KVD liners, I like mine super black too and you're right that it would have been a better shade to include!

    1. It really is a good brow gel! Perhaps I just got a dud of the Kat Von D liner.

  2. Oooo I love what you got in this bag! The eyeliner, the lipstick and the skin transformer look awesome! I've watched so many reviews of ipsy aka glam box and I understood how sometimes people felt quite 'meh' with half the things they got. But seriously for $10 it's so worth it, in singapore mini sized products at check out are about the equivalent of $14 USD.

    1. Very true. With Ipsy's $10 bag, you'll always get your money's worth. Yeah, some minis can be about that price here too. I sometimes think it's better to buy the minis instead of the full sized products. I don't always end up liking products and they sometimes don't get returned. (I hate the return process and I am pretty lazy too lol)

  3. What a nice selection! I've heard nothing but good things about Living Proof hair products and I really need to try more Sephora collection lip products. I recently got a mini sample of KVD Trooper and can't wait to give it a try :)

  6. The only difference is I got Dr. Jart while you got Ole Henriksen. After reading your description, I'm glad I got Dr. Jart. Thanks for the quick summary!

  8. I think this is a decent box with the exception they could at least make it a full size Sephora lipstick instead of a tiny weeny one.

    1. Yes. I've seen people suggest that the Sephora Collection products be full sized.
