Birchbox March 2016

Hello!

I wanted to try a new subscription box. I had heard good reviews about Birchbox, so I signed up. You receive five personalized beauty samples every month. It's $10 a month, and they even let you pick one of your samples. This month's theme was Ladies First in honor of International Women's Day and Women's History Month.

A card with details of the products and prices are included. I wish the prices would be of the actual product size, and not the full sized ones.
Product description and prices
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

I use dry shampoo probably once or twice a week. Amika Dry Shampoo absorbs any oil I may have and makes my hair look refreshed. It has a lovely scent to it. It doesn't leave any white residue behind.

Cargo Land Down Under Eye Shadow

I was shown a picture of a full sized palette when I saw what would be in my box. The pictures can be misleading, which I didn't like. The duo is called "Beach & Bridge." Beach is a pale golden shimmer. It crumbles to the touch and looks just like shimmer with no color on my eye. I also experienced fallout with it. Bridge is a deep brown with shimmer. It's the better pigmented of the two colors. Bridge is a bit powdery, but I preferred this colors versus Beach.

Coola SPF 50 Sport Moisturizer - Mango

This moisturizer is described as being sweat proof and a water-resistant sunscreen. I usually apply my day serum and then follow in with a moisturizer. This one is nice and I like that it has SPF 50. I wish it wasn't mango scented though. I'd prefer the regular scent of sunscreen.

Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow

This BB cream gives me a medium coverage. It covered my imperfections nicely for being a BB cream. It can be worn alone or as a base. It gives a nice glow to my face. I started getting a bit shiny by the five and a half hour mark.

Wilma Schumann Skin Care

I used this the day my box had arrived. The collagen pads made my under eye area tingle a bit. It did hydrate my under eyes. I like these for a little spa day at home.

Overall, I liked only three out of five items. The BB cream was my favorite, and will be purchased. The moisturizer is just okay, but I hated the mango scent. Hopefully next month will be a bit better.

  1. I tried birch box a long time ago, I don't think we were able to pick any of our samples though so that's cool that you can pick one of them! Try using a wet brush for that gold eyeshadow and maybe you'll get better results with it! The packaging on the dry shampoo is super cute!

  3. I cancelled my Birchbox back in January. One thing I loved was that they let you pick a sample or a special curated box, every once in a while.
Amika is a great haircare brand!
